An Inconvenient Truth

I am reviewing the global warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth which is an excellent film. This film came about when one of the film crew attended a slide show on climate change and pollution by Al Gore. He reputedly had done the lecture at least a thousand times. It led to interest in making a film based on it. The consensus among experts is that there are minor flaws but it is a difficult subject to present and research. All in all the slideshow is mostly accurate and Al shows a good understanding of the problems. Some said it was little more than political propaganda aimed at getting him the Presidents job. Apparently a survey carried out in Britain showed that 3 out of 4 people who have seen it have changed their lifestyle to go more green. It was the 9th most popular documentary of all time in the United States. It won 2 Oscars for best original song and best feature documentary. It is the only documentary to date to win 2 Oscars. The pop star Melissa Etheridge wrote the award winning song. I think anybody who sees this documentary must be quite moved by it. Many schools screen it for their students as part of making them more aware of climate change. In the next 50 years if unchecked the Earth is going to become intolerably hot and if the ice caps melt the sea level will rise by 20 feet. It will probably displace 100 million people from their land. It could also prevent the convection cycles in the oceans resulting in a new ice age. The convection cycles for example help keep Western Europe warm. The Earth is also hotter now than at any time in the last 650,000 years. This is a hell of a good film and they suggest getting other people to watch it and I definitely recommend it.
